Search Kent, Burslem, and The Great Marlow Parish Registers Now at WorldVitalRecords.com

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Kent, Burslem, and The Great Marlow Parish Registers were added recently to WorldVitalRecords.com. These databases are FREE to access until April 7, 2007.

The Kent Parish Registers database contains marriage records from five parishes. Four of the parish records contain information from the 16th century and the other parish records contain information dating from the 17th century.

The entries in this database have not been transcribed verbatim, but have been put in a common form where contractions are freely used. The contractions and their meanings can be found in the preface. (To access the preface – Use the Browse This Database feature on the site.)

The Burslem Parish Registers, Volume 1 is a database from the Everton Library Collection. The Burslem Parish Register contains baptism, marriage, and burial records for the years 1761-1809. Burslem is in North Staffordshire. It is on the Trent and Mersey Canal. It is an ancient Chapelry and occurs in Domesday as Barcardeslim and in various records and charters as Borewardeslyme, Burewardesley-lime, Burwardeslime, Burwareslem, and Burdeslem.

The Great Marlow Parish Registers database contains baptismal, marriage, and burial records from 1592 to 1611. Unfortunately, the registers were fairly damaged by moisture and contained many torn pages. The transcription contains the best recreation of the records as possible, with supplied words enclosed in square brackets. In some places toward the end, every letter had to be carefully analyzed under a strong lens.

Search More Than 9 Million NARA World War II Army Enlistment Records Online at WorldVitalRecords.com

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

WorldVitalRecords.com add another large Wonderbase to its site

More than 9 million World War II army enlistment records are now searchable online at WorldVitalRecords.com through a shipment provided by National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), one of the largest archives in the United States.

NARA created the database in 2002 in conjunction with the Bureau of the Census. The World War II Army Enlistment database contains the majority of the Army enlistments during World War II from 1938-1946 and will be searchable for FREE until April 5, 2007.

This rich database contains the serial number, name, state and county of residence, place of enlistment, date of enlistment, race, grade, Army branch, term of enlistment, longevity, nativity (place of birth), year of birth, civilian occupation, marital status, education, military occupational specialty (1945 and later), height and weight (before 1943), component, and box and reel number of the microfilmed punch cards.

At WorldVitalRecords.com, these NARA databases are part of a global search, allowing users to search all of the databases at one time. These records have also been enhanced with geomapping and the Google Book search features.

We, at WorldVitalRecords.com, feel that the World War II generation brought us out of the Great Depression and established much of the American modern infrastructure we enjoy today. We celebrate their lives with the inclusion of these records.
